Nature on the trail

The Zillertal Alps Natural Park covers the impressive natural and cultural landscape north of the Alps main body on an area of 422 km². The mighty glaciers, deep blue mountain lakes and vast alpine pastures formed land and people during the years.

In Mayrhofen, entrance of the Nature Park, the back part of the Ziller Valley branches into lateral valleys like the fingers of the hand. The Nature Park at an altitude of 1,000 m in Ginzling extends to the Hochfeiler at 3,509 m and crosses all altitudes of the Central Alps.

Since 2008 the town of Tux has been officially included in the High Nature Park of the Ziller Valley Alps. After adjusting the borders, the surface of the Nature Park gained 7 km² for a total of 379 km².
